ST. JOHN
There is a wide variety of delicious cuisine to be found in St. John. While restaurants in Coral Bay tend to close early, many dining options in the more populous Cruz Bay stay open past 9pm.
ST. THOMAS
Many of the best restaurants can be found in the central part of the island around Charlotte Amalie, Frenchtown and Mafolie, though there are also gems to be found in the Red Hook area as well.
ST. CROIX
There are great restaurants all over St. Croix with the highest concentration around Christiansted.
Restaurants in St. John
Skinny Legs Bar and Grill
Skinny Legs is a laid-back, open-air grill found on the quiet Coral Bay. Enjoy a burger, salad, or a specialty sandwich prepared with locally sourced ingredients and potato chips on the side. It’s not a beach-side Caribbean eatery without a dense drink list, and Skinny Legs does not disappoint. From beer and wine to signature cocktails, there’s a drink on the menu for everyone.
Lime Out
No shirt, no shoes, and no problem at Lime Out swim up bar. This bright green taco joint can be found floating on the southeast side of St. John in Coral Harbor. Enjoy creative craft cocktails, beers, or juices along with eight different taco flavors. These range from ceviche tacos to curry chicken, fresh tuna and even a vegan taco option!
La Tapa
For award-winning Spanish-Mediterranean cuisine by acclaimed chef Alexandra Ewald, head to La Tapa. Located in Cruz Bay, these shareable plates have been tempting locals and visitors alike for over 20 years. The menu is comprised of small plates consisting of cheeses and veggies to larger shared dishes centered around meats and seafood. Finish off the meal with house made ice creams and sorbets.
1864 Restaurant
1864 is the elevated, high-end seafood spot you’ve been craving. Chef Tommy Garfield creates chic and highly delectable dishes with fresh local ingredients served alongside an extensive wine list. Enjoy hand rolled sushi, refreshing cocktails and wines, and sea-to-table catches within the gorgeous, open-air setting at Mongoose Junction. Don’t leave without a taste of their oyster shooters and specialty rolls like the Negihama Mama.
Extra Virgin Bistro
Just about any restaurant can claim to utilize fresh ingredients but how many can say they grow the majority of their herbs onsite? Extra Virgin Bistro guarantees the highest quality ingredients, including the fish that are delivered daily by local fishermen. As a result, the menu changes daily to reflect the local produce on hand.
Restaurants in St. Croix
Savant
Savant is an award winning island bistro named Top 10 Restaurants in the Caribbean by USA Today as well as many others. The establishment has room to seat guests inside the intimate and elegant interior or outside in the romantic courtyard setting. The food is prepared with local ingredients from local farmers and fishermen to create outstanding flavor in dishes like the stuffed filet, the bacon wrapped double cut pork chop, or the char-grilled calamari with portobello and goat cheese.
Blues' Backyard BBQ & Grill
Blues’ Backyard BBQ and Grill serves up award-winning brisket, burgers, ribs, and more right in the Virgin Islands. This local St. Croix favorite is located in La Grande Princess and offers an extensive menu from both their food truck and Backyard BBQ. Try their famous “succulicious” slow-smoked brisket & pork or the beloved brisket chili. Daily specials such as BBQ Platters will delight any palette. You can dine in their backyard or at the bar, enjoying ice-cold drinks while listening to the music of Blues’ great local bands on Thursday through Saturday evenings. On weekends, live bands usually perform musical styles from Country to Blues, Funk to Rock, and even Reggae in the backyard!
La Reine Chicken Shack
La Reine is a no-frills establishment that is home to the best, most tender chicken and johnny cakes on the island. You’ll also find conch and fish, steak, pork chops, meatloaf, macaroni pie, and sides. However, the chicken is what has loyal locals lining up outside each day.
RumRunners
RumRunners is a waterfront restaurant where views of the harbor and the ocean breeze can be enjoyed from the Deck Bar. They are known for their chilled signature cocktails and delicious seafood dishes available every lunch and dinner. Local favorites include the deep-fried calamari, the fish-n-chips, and the fish tacos.
Café Fresco
Café Fresco is set in an old Danish building with a cobblestoned courtyard and a romantic atmosphere. Open each day for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant serves a variety of coffees, blended smoothies, gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, and other healthy and refreshing menu items. You’ll have to try their Honey Old Bay Chicken Quesadilla and Chivito.
Restaurants in St. Thomas
Prime at Paradise Point
The restaurant doesn’t earn the name “Paradise Point” without reason. The entire harbor glows with pink and orange sunset hues to be enjoyed with a glass of wine and a delectable meal. Not only is the food heavenly, but the service is perfect. Enjoy fresh seafood dishes like the double stuffed lobster served alongside the bacon bourbon brussels sprouts.
Stone House Cafe
If you want great food, fantastic service, and historic ambiance, you can’t miss the Stone House Cafe in St. Thomas. Located in the heart of Charlotte Amalie, the Stone House Cafe offers an excellent menu with various dishes perfect for an evening out or dining after shopping in town. You can also enjoy the all-day happy hour. Remember, you’re on island time! Make sure to try the Mahi Mahi, Seared Scallops, Shrimp Tacos, or Crab Cakes. Sip on the deliciously tropical Rum Punch as you take in this beautifully restored historic building.
Heidi’s Honeymoon Grill
Heidi’s Honeymoon Grill is a dreamy little eatery nestled on a hill overlooking Honeymoon Beach. The views are unparalleled and locals and travelers alike rave about the fish tacos. There are also plenty of salads, seafood, and sandwiches on the menu and a full bar with specialty cocktails and a famous rum punch.
Blue 11
Blue 11 offers guests a refined Caribbean-style meal in the middle of Yacht Haven Grande. The menus are prepared by Chef “Benji” with local ingredients and served in seven, nine, or eleven course tastings with world-class wine pairings. Here, you’re guaranteed an exclusive and memorable culinary experience.
The Twisted Cork Café
The Twisted Cork Café is the perfect rustic eatery to enjoy gourmet style cuisine. The menu is complete with salads, sandwiches and heartier entrees like Lionfish & Chips served with sweet potato fries, coleslaw, and a spicy rémoulade.
